The annual Rotary Polar Plunge was held New Years Day under partly sunny skies with a balmy 35 degree air temperature.

The Falmouth Rotary Club's New Years Day Polar Plunge drew a large crowd of participants and spectators to help raise funds for the club's scholarship fund and to meet the Bill and Melinda Gates challenge to eradicate polio. Led by event chair Sean Gallagher, club president Steve Clay and past-presidents John Vidal and Bill Kerfoot joined 30 other participants by diving into the chilly waters of Surf Drive Beach. Rotarians Pete Peterman, Dick Cudmore, and Walter Phillips (equipped with a first aid kit) came to cheer the swimmers on. All in all, everyone survived and a good cause was helped.
