Don Hoffer Recognized for Community Contributions
Don Hoffer will be receiving the chairman’s award from the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce at the 2012 Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet on May 10. Don has been the beach superintendent since 2003 and has been a supporter of the beaches for over 20 years. He served on the beach committee from 1988 to 1998. After leaving for a year, he applied for the assistant beach superintendent position and was appointed to the job in August 2000. He was named acting superintendent in 2002.
Before moving to Falmouth in 1978, Don was a captain in the US Coast Guard in Washington, DC. He retired from the Coast Guard in 1986 and worked as the special projects director for the Woods Hole Martha’s Vineyard Steamship Authority from 1986 to 1989.
