We are funding a solar installation and battery backup on a hostel in Nepal, established by a survivor of human trafficking who is protecting at-risk girls from a culture of trafficking in a remote village in the mountains north of Kathmandu. The solar backup system will make the power robust for our zoom teaching program, which is providing an education for teens who did not receive an education due to their gender. (under the umbrella of Her Future Coalition)
We are also funding a program which serves families at the Guatemala City dump, by educating children and providing food to their families so that the children are free to go to school and not scavenge all day to find sustenance. Rotarians from our club have worked and visited at this school and have been providing support to this project for many years. (Safe Passage, or Camino Seguro)
The international banquet will be May 16 from 6 - 8. Tickets are limited so buy them early if you wish to attend.
